The fourth of Norddeutsche Lloyd's 4-stacker was built by Vulcan Shipyard, Stettin, Germany in 1906. 19,503 GRT; . Steam quadruple expansion engines, twin screw, 46,000 horsepowers. Service speed 23,6 knots. 1,970 passengers (558 first class, 338 second class, 1,074 third class). Built for North German Lloyd it was in Bremerhaven-New York service. In 1914 she left New York with 1,100 passengers and 2 Mio pound sterling - due to the upcoming war the ship turned around in mid-Atlantic and returned to the USA. Harm Kettwig (64 years old) and his wife Minne (62) arrived in New York on September 7, 1909. They had set off in Bremen, having spent some time in their old home country, and were heading to Parkersburg, Iowa, their present home.
